ACS
NEWCASTLE 75 REUNION
THE CLASS OF 75 ~ 1975 - 2015
SATURDAY 18TH JULY 2015 - BE THERE!
Pete Blain
I am still working full time.  Although, having read entries from retired
colleagues, this may change soon.  I recently reduced clinical activities and
spend most of my day being Director of the Medical Toxicology Centre, and of
the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Chemical and Radiation Threats
and Hazards – quite a cumbersome title!  I am also involved in a niche area of
operational military medicine and travel quite a lot.

My wife, Pat, retired many years ago having become exasperated with repeated
organisational changes to the NHS.  Two of our children are emergency
medicine doctors and, far too early, are becoming disillusioned with medicine,
as now practised in the UK.  Our middle child is a research associate in
Bayesian Probability Analysis – don’t ask me to explain!  But at least this does
involve him in some medical research.

It is fascinating to see what happened to everyone over 40 years.  Unfortunately,
I am committed to be away and won’t be attending the Reunion.  I shall have the
photos, though, to see how gracefully everyone has matured.
