THE CLASS OF 75 ~ 1975 - 2015
SATURDAY 18TH JULY 2015 - BE THERE!
Chris Raine
Still hard at it having been in Bradford Royal for the
last 29 years – frightening to think time has flown
so quickly. It is great to keep in touch with my “old
year”

The Family
Anne retired when we had our first and currently
only grandson, Liam who is now 7.  Our two
daughters Jenny and Juliet both moved back to
Newcastle for their university years. Jenny has
settled there and Juliet is happily based in London
and has just completed her masters in
Ergonomics. Jonathan has literally just moved
away from home after 27 years and has a busy
business in heating engineering. For Anne
retirement was from a busy oncology practice to
having no spare-time helping others.
Work
Well, as for me I have thoroughly enjoyed been in the developing years of cochlear implantation. Its is truly fantastic to see
children from over 20 years ago grow up in the hearing world and have a great start in life. It has also allowed me to travel
the world, teaching and doing surgery and research.  I was privileged to receive the MBE in this years Queens Birthday
Honours for my work and creation of ‘The Listening for Life Centre’
I try not to think of the disastrous management changes there have been in the NHS but it still offers a fantastic service.

Play
I have had to stop running because of the old joints, but can still enjoy skiing with the family. Sailing has given way to
“Snailing” in our narrow boat called “Snails Pace” . If you have not tried going on the canals of Britain or Europe it is an
instantaneous form of relaxation. This will be one of our retirement projects to complete the UK system before heading
overseas. One of the main passengers is Maisie May, a rather larger than life Leonburger. If you are ever down in the Skipton
area let us know.

Look forward to the sail and catching up with folk.
